A few weeks ago, I stopped by Eveline Charles in Edmonton to get a Photofacial treatment for their Beauty MD Bootcamp. I had a ton of questions regarding this treatment and I thought to share this experience with you guys!  Here are the most commonly asked questions about this treatment.
What is Photofacial?
The treatment is most commonly used to treat scars, wrinkles, large pores and sun damage. It also improves skin tone, smooth out fine lines and treat discolouration. How it works is it zaps the skin with quick and powerful flashes of light. The light energy penetrates below the skin’s surface where the unwanted brown pigment lives. This then breaks it down to tiny particles which rises to the skins surface as scabs in a few weeks. Sounds gross but so cool!
How many treatments do you need?
Depending on what you want to treat and how deep your scars are, as often as you need to. It varies by person. I was told that for the spots that I had, I would need to go back for a few more sessions. Like most skin treatments, you have to be consistent and go for a few sessions to see any results.
Did it hurt?
Not at all. Though that’s not saying much as I have a high tolerance for pain. To compare, it’s similar to having laser hair removal. Quick light zaps and it was super quick.
Is there After Care?
Very little maintenance afterwards. Apply SPF during the day is their suggestion. Your skin is sensitive after this treatment. I also use Retin A some nights so I had to skip that one for a few days.
How much does it cost?
Expect to pay up to $400 + when it comes to this treatment. I went to Eveline Charles to get mine done. Pricing for this at their location is around $275 per session. I had mine done from the South Edmonton Common location and if you ask for Farhana, she will take care of you! She was very knowledgeable and super friendly. I think that’s important when you go to get treatments like this.

So this is what my skin looks like before having the treatment done. You won’t be able to see the difference here but true benefits are realized after a week or two after the treatment. A photofacial provides drastic that are long lasting. A few weeks after, the texture of my skin and pigmentation of my skin improved.
