EVELINECHARLES SALONS / SPAS / BEAUTY MD: SPRING/ SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION
Spring beauty is all about making a statement. Learn how to make yours at EvelineCharles Salons & Spas
The EvelineCharles Salons & Spas Creative Team studied and interpreted trends of spring 2011 to create and photograph everyday wearable hair and makeup looks to present to clients and staff. This spring you'll notice the previously prominent trends of Military and Glitter take a back burner to Romantic Minimalism and Sophisticated Glamour inspired by the 60's and 70's. Led by EC Artistic Director, Ashley Harrison, and inspired by fashion seen on the runways in London, Milan, New York, Paris and Toronto, the EC creative team went to work to create looks that can be worn by a variety of face shapes, skin tones and personalities.
Hair: Influence of the 1970's in fashion cannot be denied this spring. Working with hair's natural texture, EC revived the shag, worn short or long. Enhance your familiar waves with EC's Curl Defining Cream ($24). For a mod look, take it short and closely cropped around the face, showing off feminine features. The seventies socialite smooth wave is here to stay; billowy, voluminous hair paired with a brow length solid fringe or parted longer fringe and all around evenly cut length will complete this iconic look. Think Studio 54 and wear hair straight, glossy and sleek, or create brushed-out loose, bouncy curls. Achieve both looks with EC's T2 Tourmaline Flat Iron ($150), finishing with EC's To the Edge Hairspray ($18). Downtown men wear a cropped cut while rebels keep it long on the top, slicked back for special occasions.
Color: Bold colors and patterns are everywhere in fashion this spring. Convey the same through your hair color by updating your look with an intense red or natural "bronde" (dark blonde- almost brown) or a highlighted cool ash blonde. Have your stylist balyage (hand painted lightener) on the ends of your hair for a fresh yet natural sun-kissed look. Whether you go for solid or multi-tonal, warm red or cool bronde; color this spring is all about making a personal statement.
Makeup: The biggest trends seen in cosmetics this season are bold lips in pure pigments and bright defined eyes. Achieve this pop-art look on the lips with matching tones of liner and lipstick in an intense coral, fuchsia, or red shade with a matte cream finish; pick from EC's large variety of lip liners ($20) and lipsticks ($19). Keep your skin flawless and even toned; contour the cheekbones, but let the focus remain on the lips and eyes this season. Show your love for 70's glam with high-pigment matte eye shadow. Or go Mod and wear a subdued shadow, lined eyes and enhanced lashes to complete the wide-eyed look. EC offers the perfect spring shades for eyeliners ($19) and eye shadows ($17), as well as products to fake it or make it when it comes to thicker, longer lashes: Lash Extender ($38), Revitalash conditioner ($150) and Latisse ($150, only at Beauty MD locations).
