Laser Treatment for Spider Veins

Laser Treatment for Spider Veins

Laser procedures can be used to treat spider veins that are most commonly seen on the legs and face. The veins may be in strands or clusters and can appear red or purple in color. Spider veins become visible when the capillaries in the legs and/or face become dilated. Capillaries become dilated for a number of reasons, many of which can be prevented through precautionary measures and some that cannot be. Sun exposure, pressure, hormonal changes, health problems, medication, climate, external skin aggressions, pregnancy, or heredity are just some of the causes for veins to become noticeable. An increasingly popular way to treat spider veins is through laser technology.  This process passes varying colors and strengths of light through the skin without injury to the skins surface. The laser is specifically targeted deep down into the dermis to treat problematic veins. The laser emits light energy that is absorbed by the blood vessels, but does not affect the surrounding tissue.

What Does It Treat?

Laser Treatment can effectively diminish the appearance of spider veins in the legs and face.

Who Is It For?

Recommended for most skin types, however some complexions are not well suited for this procedure.

What To Expect During Your Laser Treatment for Spider Veins

Clients will receive a comprehensive skin consultation with our qualified cosmetic consultants to determine what would work best for them. It is recommended that individuals avoid sun exposure with any laser procedure two weeks prior to treatment, during the course of treatment, and after treatment for as long as the doctor recommends it.

Exposure to the sun increases the amount of pigment in the skin, what the laser reacts to – this increases the risk potential to burn during the procedure. Depending on the severity of spider veins, some individuals may need multiple treatments for noticeable results.

After Procedure Care

Unlike the more common forms of leg vein removal, laser treatments require minimal to no downtime and very little discomfort. Most individuals fully recover in 7 to 14 days after treatment.
