Who is Laser Hair Removal For?
Laser hair removal is suitable for both men and women in most places where unwanted hair grows.  EvelineCharles uses the most advanced lasers to provide effective laser hair removal for all skin types and most body locations.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal is an effective method of permanently reducing unwanted hair.  During laser hair removal, highly controlled pulses of laser light are selectively absorbed by the hair follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats and destroys the hair follicle, preventing re-growth from occurring without damaging surrounding tissues. Through a series of sessions, the lasers will target each follicle to remove unwanted hair.

Hair growth occurs in phases. Hair growth has three stages:  Anagen (active stage), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting). Lasers can only target hair in the anagen stage, the currently actively growing hair follicles. At any given time, only 15-25% of hairs are in the active growing stage at the same time. This explains why several treatments are required to assure the destruction of hair follicles. The exact number of treatments required will depend on various parameters including the area of the body treated, skin color, coarseness of hair and gender.  During your consultation, a highly trained laser technician will be able to discuss the specifics of your customized laser hair removal treatment program.

About the Procedure
Prior to laser hair removal, you need to prepare your skin in advance. Don't wax, tweeze or epilate before laser hair removal. One to two days before the procedure, shave the area to be treated. A highly trained EvelineCharles Laser Technician or Image Consultant will discuss any additional considerations.

Laser hair removal generally requires no anaesthesia. The laser will feel like a slight snapping against your skin. If the snap from the laser is too much to bear, then ask the doctor to prescribe a numbing cream for application prior to your appointment, this will make the appointment far more tolerable. Our lasers use a self-directed flow of compressed cool air to the treatment area to create a more comfortable environment. Depending on the body region being treated, laser hair removal can take just a few moments up to an hour.

Following the treatment, you will be ready to go! The treated area may have the appearance of mild sunburn that can be camouflaged with cosmetics or soothed with a topical ointment.

Avoiding Sun Exposure
Avoiding sun exposure before and after laser treatments is exceptionally important.  Lasers react to pigment; therefore, any excess pigment in your skin can affect your results and increase the potential for burns.
