EC Trend Report: Sid Neigum at Toronto Fashion Week

Drayton Valley native, Sid Neigum, 22, debut's at Toronto LG Fashion Week on March 31th, 2011
In a full studio: the lights dim, the music starts pumping and out walk striking models wearing innovative fashion. Bold, futuristic, and androgynous. Flare magazine describes Sid Neigum's Fall/Winter 2011 collection as Glunge drawing inspiration from 90's grunge style, while using glamorous, high end materials such as goat hair and tripled washed lambskin uniquely cut and tailored with precise detail. Sid is a young designer to watch and an inspiration to us all. He is unafraid to push boundaries and pioneer in the world of fashion design.

Makeup: A huge trend on the runway are lips that pop. Although not seen here in the typical pink or red shade Sid had his models wearing a high shine black lipstick to match his animalistic, all black collection. Skin was kept smooth, flawless and blush-free. Eyebrows were covered to match model's skin tone, keeping the focus on the lips, enhancing the dramatic, gothic look. To complete the look models nails were painted black. Get into Glunge, book in for a manicure at EC and try out our new black polish, Eclipse.

Hair: Female models wore their hair in an oversized, messy bun on the top of their heads. This style has been coined "bird's nest bun" or "powder puff" and has recently been seen at showings of Lanvin and Chanel collections. Lovely added touches were the crocodile headbands to complete Sid's runway hair. All hair and make up was done by Canada's L'Oreal Proffesionel team. Born and raised in the small town of Drayton Valley, Alberta Sid Neigum always stood out in a group. He naturally gravitated towards the arts, first expressing himself through music as lead singer, writer and pianist of garage band, "Sex with the City". Upon moving to the "big city", Edmonton; he embraced his love for trendy, cool clothing. With no experience designing garments Sid enrolled in the twelve month design program at Marvel College, graduated top of his class and decided to pursue a career in fashion.

A full course load did not slow him down; Sid continued to create and showcase his work at Western Canada Fashion Week, Vancouver Fashion Week and Montreal Fashion Week.
