EC Insight: Inspiration for Fall 2011: Iconic Beauty Collection

The Iconic Beauty Collection is all about exploring a new world of looks, moods, personas and narratives; an everyday opportunity to create style to be desired. The collection exhibits bold, blunt bobs and haircuts that are heavily textured with disconnected layers, and mysteriously deep colours with rich finishes; makeup enhances natural shades and shapes resulting in a bold yet romantic look. "I was inspired by iconic hairstyles from the 70s and 80s, taking classic styles and updating them to make it relevant to current life," says Cyndi Issac, Salon Director for EC Salons and Spas, "The cuts stir fond memories of the past, but the colors are fresh, modern and vibrant." As always, EC is proud to feature all local models, turning the lens on real women and men. Transforming a beautiful person into a model for the day, complete with a new look, is always a rewarding experience.
We asked you to tell us what are your favourite photos from our Fall 2011 Iconic Beauty Collection below are the favouite picks and the inspiration of how they came to be:

the Look: Klute
Stylist: Dean, West Edmonton mall EC, Model: Jennifer, longtime client and friend
Facebook friend Michelle said: "Love this color! Might have to change my "just a cut..." to "cut & colour" ;)"

We love it too. For the hair cut Dean was originally inspired Jane Fonda in the 1970s film Klute. He brought the vintage cut into the present with the color and finishing style- inspired by the piecy curls and sun-kissed colour trend, Ombre, sported by many celebrities, seen here on Rachel Bilson.

the Look: Charlie
Stylist: Jane, South Edmonton Common EC, Model: Marley, EC client and former EC Academy student
Facebook friend Cora said: "Very nice! Nice combination of layers and length and great color - makes her eyes pop!"

For this hair cut we looked to 1980s starlet, Kelly Gillis for inspiration. Her role as Charlie the sexy instructor and Tom Cruise's love interest in Top Gun had women emulating not only her haircut but romantic flair as well. Again with color and style we brought the look to present day, rather than a golden blonde we highlighted Marley's hair platinum blonde.
This haircut it so versitile we had to shoot it styled a few different ways:
The classic 80s flip

The smoothed out look
