HAIR DESIGN

The Hair Design program at EvelineCharles Academy allows students with a vested interest in beauty and fashion to express their creativity while training for a successful career.  In the classroom, students will learn the fundamentals of hair design, cutting, coloring and styling and will gain confidence in their expertise as they perfect their skills on the Academy’s salon floor.  With both full-time and part-time program options, EvelineCharles Academy ensures that all students have a meaningful and rewarding learning experience that will lead to a prosperous career. 

An education at EvelineCharles Academy ensures students develop a 360 degree vision of the beauty industry with a business acumen in the 47 week curriculum.  EvelineCharles Academy offers both a 5-Day and 3-Day Week Hair Design program to give students more flexibility: balancing work, life and school.  Tuition includes all textbooks, tools and a professional kit.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW |

Phase 1 of the EvelineCharles Hair Design program provides students with a solid foundation encompassing all the core competencies required to become a successful hairstylist. With the guidance of a highly skilled instructor, students will learn the theory behind the craft, hair design, hair color and the Sassoon ABCs of haircutting. Instructors also guide students through practical applications on mannequins, models and real clients in a safe learning environment.  The first portion of this course introduces students to the world of hair dressing, teaching them the essentials while improving their dexterity and muscle strength.  Phase 2 of the EvelineCharles Hair Design program allows students to build upon the skills learned in Phase 1. Students’ artistic talent begins to emerge as their basic hairstyling skills are tested and expanded.  The final weeks of the program are spent working on the Academy’s salon floor servicing guests and preparing for real life salon experiences.

Sassoon ABCs of Cutting
In 2008, EvelineCharles was hand picked by the lead educators at Sassoon to be the first Academy in Canada to instruct Sassoon’s exclusive ABCs of Cutting.  Members of the Academy faculty received extensive Sassoon education: learning the correct delivery methods for theoretical lectures and hands-on haircutting. EvelineCharles Academy has designed its curriculum based on this comprehensive system in order to provide the firmest foundation for any hairstylist.  A Sassoon education on a student’s resume will catch the eye of potential employers and will benefit students throughout their careers.

NAIT Business Courses and EvelineCharles Performace Principles
EvelineCharles Academy's Hair Design program has a strong business focus incorporating EvelineCharles Performance Principles along with NAIT Business Management Certificate Courses into its enhanced curriculum. Students learn about the necessary business tools to prepare them for a career as a hairdresser as well as the fundamentals to starting up and running their own hair salon.

International Therapies Examination Council (ITEC) Certification
ITEC is a certification guaranteeing that a student has been trained to the highest of standards and qualifies students to work on cruise ships and in 38 countries including Canada, Europe and Australia.  Students who are ITEC certified are more desirable hires, giving them a wider range of employment opportunities to choose from.
