Hair Massacure 2010

Hair Massacure

The lights go up and the music starts to play. From afar I could hear a man starting to speak into the microphone. As I look up I see not just one person but a whole family. I stand and listen as they tell the story of her daughter having cancer and her fight to survive. Behind me I also notice the hundreds of people lining up eager to shave their heads for this wonderful cause. As I stand at my chair I feel inspired and at the same time very emotional. A small girl approaches my chair with her mom and I invite her to sit. I pick up my clippers and begin to shave all her faded pink hair off. Once I was done I asked what her motivation was to do this. She looks up at me with tears starting to fill her beautiful blue eyes. So I kneel down beside her and she whispers in my ear with her innocent voice, "my dad". My heart sunk at that very moment. I gave her a hug and told her she was an angel for donating her hair and her dad would be very proud of her. She smiled then got up and slowly walked back to her mom. As I watched, her mom looked towards me and said "thank you".

Hair Massacure is an amazing event and I'm so proud I got to be a part of it. I'm truly thankful to EvelineCharles for giving us the opportunity to experience such events such as this one.
