EC Students raise funds through BAKE SALE to send girls in need to Beauty Bootcamp

Just one of many highlights of this past week's bake sale to raise funds to send girls ages 11-15 from BBBS to Beauty Bootcamp
It all started with a team of staff and students at EC Academy dedicated to help share an EC Beauty Bootcamp experience with girls in need. EC Academy created the platform to accept donations to help raise funds to send girls from Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS) to Beauty Bootcamp (an inspiring weekday camp tailored to the needs of pre-teen girls. The focus is centered on inner and outer beauty to encourage true beauty discovery), but they wanted to do more. So, a Bake Sale was shaped which ran this past Monday and Tuesday. There was a delightful range of goods baked, but one EC Academy student's drive to go the extra mile (degree) in the baking of her sold out item can be thanked to the '212- degrees' (The Extra Degree) video on YouTube shared in Assembly- this student was Delreene Kusnyir and she began her esthetics program in May- not only did she make banana bread from scratch, she tied the slices up with love; in pink and blue ribbon to represent BBBS.
Delreene, and all the other bakers (students) are a solid example of giving back to the community with that extra 'degree'. Through sharing their creative abilities, theory learned while being at EC Academy, these students couldn't be more pleased to say that enough baking was sold to send ONE more BBBS girl to a week of Beauty Bootcamp!
