EvelineCharles Academy students enter into The North
American Hairstyling Awards (NAHAs)
After only three months enrolled, a handful of Edmonton (both
cosmetology and esthetic) students were given the opportunity
to be unleashed from their class curriculum and artistic
criteria by given near complete creative control to conceptualize a
theme to translate through hair and beauty. The result:
breathtaking, leaving nothing but stunning images to add to their
portfolios.

On Wednesday, May 2, EvelineCharles Academy Calgary hosted the
launch of The Fairytales Presentation Society's annual
Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival, which celebrates
films made by and/or about the LGBTTQ and Queer communities.
Students hosted mini-services for the nearly 150 guests in
attendance eager to hear the announcement of the festival's film
lineup and for the screening of "Leave it on the Floor".
EvelineCharles students also challenged themselves to officially
put their hair and beauty skills to the test through an official
dragover (drag queen makeover- male into female)!

High School students lining up outside our Academy in
anticipation of a great day!
EvelineCharles Academy students (full-time hair design and
esthetics) showcased their skills through mini-services, tours, a
beauty presentation and a fashion show on April 18! We also were
pleased to have Jo-Anne Dicken, the co-founder/owner/stylist
at The Fringe
Hair Company and the artistic team leader for AG Hair
Cosmetics, visit us for an inspiring guest presentation. She
spoke on what type of person it takes to thrive in the

opportunities lead the Vernaza family to move from Ecuador, Quito
to the province seven years ago. Anita Vernaza, the 28 year-old

is Sassoon Cut & Colour Competition
Huong has always wanted to be a hair stylist, and is passionate
about it. Hairstyling gives her the opportunity to do what
she loves and gives her family a better future.
Advice she would give to someone would be to "practice,
practice, practice", and to never give up.
She's inspired by fashion icons such as Steven Moody. Seeing the
success from other entrepreneurs in the industry motivates her and

The evening of November 30, 2011, at The CORE shopping centre,
was an exciting occasion for EvelineCharles professional salon
& spa staff and Academy students. The 'Twas the Night event
which hosted nearly 7,500 Calgarians, was an opportunity for the
brand to showcase their stuff through mini-services, personalized
beauty consultations, tours of their state-of-the-art

On August 22, our Vancouver Campus was very
fortunate and excited to host well-known local stylist, Katie Rose,
for a guest speaking/demo presentation! She spoke about what drove
her to the industry, her experience going to beauty school, her
favorite part about the business, her projections as to where she
sees the industry in the next five to 10 years, and what are

On August 2, EC Academy headed to Las Vegas to meet
with 5 of the top beauty schools in North
America!
School 5 is a peers group of Academy professionals that come
together once a year from the top schools in North America to
discuss best practices. Admissions, operations, finance,
regulations and events are among the many topics that are discussed
in an eight- hour intensive setting. Each school brings their
admissions, operations and administrative staff along with their
owners.

George Canyon.
Students go backstage Slave Lake Benefit Concert to
make up some of country music's finest stars!
On Wednesday, June 15, a benefit concert was
held at the River Cree Casino which raised more than $150,000
for the Canadain Red Cross to help people who lost their homes
in the Slave Lake wildfire. One-third of the town was destroyed
when the fire ripped through the northern Alberta town on May
15.

Academy and was given a tour by their Marketing and PR Coordinator,
