Apryl Nygaard, EvelineCharles Academy student places Top 10 is Sassoon Cut & Colour Competition
"The school exposed to me events that made me want to work in the fashion industry; maybe a runway or television show someday!" Apryl
Apryl has always wanted to be a hairstylist since she was a little girl. In hair school she got to experience how wonderful it is to be a part of an industry that makes her feel proud. "I love it" she stated. Now that she's working, she'd love to continue developing her skills with education to ensure she's the best stylist she can be.
Apryl's instructors were amazing, and she met life long friends at the EvelineCharles Academy. Her instructors pushed her to do things they knew she had the potential for, even when she had doubts. She realized what she was capable of and she's forever grateful she chose ECA because "[She doesn't] think [she] would have learnt as much as [she] did if [she] would have gone somewhere else". The various events she participated in were affirmation she made the right career choice for herself.
Apryl drew most of her inspiration from the Schwarzkopf 2011 trends book, and her cuts from many Sassoon videos and fashion shows she had seen.
Apryl is now in Fort Saskatchewan at The Retreat Salon & Spa, where she brought everything she learned at the EvelineCharles Academy. From shampooing to selling to educating clients, Apryl translates her academic and practical skills she learnt at the Academy. "Being here makes me realize what I want in life and I feel like pushing myself to be better."
If you are considering a career in the hair industry, Apryl would advise to "do what feels right to you, and [not to] let others dictate your decisions." She is an advocate for optimism and adores doing what she loves every day.
Congratulations, Apryl!
Apryl, seen here sporting a wicked fringe and highlight look!
